Blog Not in Tags, Not Linked To Name

  • Unknown's avatar

My Blog (Dissfunktional.wordpress.com) is no longer showing up in tags, nor is it linked to my name (dissfunktional). It’s set up correctly and used to show fine. I’ve been having the issue since about Christmas. Help pleeze!

Your website is in your forum profile, so I would imagine that you need to contact staff about this as it would seem you are marked as “mature” possibly?

I’ve contacted them on two occasions, one of those times today. I thought I had had the incorrect email address however the address Sulz provided is the same I had used prior. I’ve never heard back from them. Frustrating. Blog shouldn’t be marked mature, nobody naked. Yet. ;)

Well it’s the weekend now. Try again tomorrow during the morning or early afternoon or wait and see if someone will see this.

Either someone reported your blog or it’s a glitch. Rain’s blog was marked as mature a while back by accident I think.

Weird. I just replied to your comment on my puppy post on my blog and your name there is clickable. :O

Try not using your blog address as both a category and a tag.
It seems to make little sense to do so because it’s what you post that tags and categories are all about.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Mark!

    The TAG is >>>> Dissfunktional
    The CATEGORY is >>>> dissfunktional.wordpress

I don’t do both the same way. I’ve organized my blog this way since the beginning. It works for me. I use the “Archives Page” as well (the one that many don’t) and this is how it is useful for me.

Thank you for your kind attention!

Here is the page and how I set it up- it works for me-

Why are you posting in your blog in a category called the same as your blog?
It would seem to make no sense, and if we all did that then we would not have a tags page, but we would have a huge list of blog names/addresses.

  • Unknown's avatar

I showed you in that link. It’s a category.
Categories are not tags so I don’t see how it should matter to somebody else.

  • Unknown's avatar

On the main tags pages it shows categories and tags – they are the same for the purposes of that page. So if you use your blog name as a tag it will show up there. That’s why it matters because people expect to see topics, not blog urls.

When a reader clicks on the categories on the sidebar they are able to view all posts placed in that category, *for that blog* On my sidebar if a reader clicks on category on the sidebar, they will remain on my blog, and are able to view all posts I have placed in that category. I use few categories. It’s like an index on how to get around.

Tags, however, is what takes readers to the outside world of wordpress is my understanding.

If there is a “Tag” (not a Category) that wordpress has an issue with my using and I need to remove, I do hope that I could receive a communication, instead of being raped from all as seems to have been the case. I’ve tried to initiate communication myself with no response.

I’m disappointed that my issue could be tag related and I just never knew.

If you did not have a category/tag called the name of your blog that will fix the situation.

  • Unknown's avatar

Categories can be tags, but not all categories are tags, and not all tags should be categories.

I think of categories as a table of contents and tags as the index page of a book. I’ve used a person’s name as a tag when following a story, like the death of Sean Taylor, I used the tag “Sean Taylor” and when following the death of Baby Grace, I used “Baby Grace” as tags.

If I’m searching for a broad topic, unsure of exactly what I need to find or the keywords, then I will hit the table of contents (categories).

If I know the exact word I need in order to find the information I want, then I will hit the tags.

    WordPress seems to be different.

You have a LOT of other blogs to remove from wordpress tags, besides Dissfunktional on these grounds.

    A whole lot.

  • Unknown's avatar

Categories and tags are the same as far as wordpress.com is concerned and the links to them on each post go to the same place.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Mark –
I removed the Category when you requested.

I have a huge list of blogs that maybe I should let you know about since this is this important. Blogs like

    Newscoma

    is in the tag

    http://wordpress.com/tag/newscoma/

    is just one example.

Thank you for your kind attention

bump – I’m still having this problem :(

  • Unknown's avatar

Well, Mark is in the UK where it’s only just turned 9 am. :) Give the man a chance!

I will discuss the matter with colleagues.
I note that you have not actually removed the category, you just shortened it and it remains unique.

You will appear in tags but the matter is not yet closed.

(reporting other blogs does not change what we do)
