Blog not letting me insert links.

Hello. My blog is not letting me insert links to other websites. In the “visual” mode of New Text, the link icons are greyed out. In the “text” options, I can add the text links, but they do not show up in the blog preview. Please help.

I’m having a similar problem. I cannot edit links in WP using Chrome. Having to goto IE to get it to work. HELP! I really like Chrome and am slow to change to a seperate browser for my WP work

@misseytwisted: Please search the Support docs and the forum before posting questions. The Support doc on links contains what you need to know, and your question has been answered many times here as well.
In the Visual editor, the link button is always greyed out when you haven’t selected any text. You type the word or phrase that should act as the visible clickable text, highlight it, then click the link button to paste the URL.
Frequent misunderstanding: the link “title” isn’t the clickable text, it’s (optional) extra information that shows when you hover over a link. -
justpi – I think the problem I’m having and misseytwisted is having relates to how WP functions under Chrome.
Is one of my extensions in Chrome causing this? It always worked before.

I saw a thread on a Chrome issue yesterday – can’t remember the subject – but problems went away when a different browser was used.
I will flag this for the staff for them to add this new “feature” to the bug list

@kieranfromclon: I don’t use Chrome so I cannot really answer your question. I replied to misseytwisted only: when she says that the buttom is greyed out in the Visual editor but not in the Text editor, and when she says she can add links in the Text editor “but they do not show up in the blog preview”, her problem is clearly the one I addressed.

Hi, things are working easier now. Maybe I just needed to be a bit more patient after removing cookies, etc. But I will be checking the forums again if I experience any more difficulties. I am also still getting used to Chrome. The internet has also been slow past couple of days in my neck of the woods.

Yes, there are several reports of things not working with Chrome, so if you can, for now try a different browser.
