Blog only going out to few email Followers. First time this has happened. No idea why.

I’ve been writing/posting on my blog since 2013. I have never had an issue with the blog going out to email Followers when published. When I published my most recent blog, it only went out to some of the email Followers. Most received nothing. I did not change anything in the Settings. No clue what is happening.

What do I need to do to ensure that blog continues to go out to all email Followers in the future?

    THANK YOU!
    Dawn

  • Hello Dawn,

    Is this for https://dawnwink.wordpress.com/?

Can you please provide two or three email addresses of people who did not receive your latest post? Type each email on its own line, and it will be hidden from public view automatically so only staff can see it.

Then we can check our logs to see whether or not those emails were properly sent.

  • Thanks, that’s enough for now. We’ll check these and let you know what we find.

  • OK. Here’s what I’ve found. I won’t post the email addresses here, so here’s the first letter of each one:

    	Sent?	Sub?	Blocked?
    j - no	yes	yes
    d -	yes	yes	yes
    c -	no	no	no
    m - yes	yes	no
    j - no	no	no

The first address had email blocked.

Your address did not have emails blocked at the time, but you have blocked them since then. You can unblock them here:
    https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/subscriptions

I did notice too, you weren’t just getting new post notifications. You had quite a few comment notification as well. That can be overwhelming. I’d recommend just using the unsubscribe link for any comment notifications you don’t want anymore.

Same thing for m — who is subscribed, and hasn’t blocked us yet on our end, but gets a ton of mail. I’m guessing their mail provide thinks it’s spam because they get notified of comments on several posts, and that piles up to a lot of email.

C and the second J are not subscribed at all using the addresses you gave me.

    Hoping this helps!

    Thank you very much!

Question – how would I have blocked myself, when I had not gone in there and changed anything? This is the first time this has happened since 2013.
I just went in and did Unblock. I don’t know how that would have occurred.

Same with first j. Sent her a notice.

M- If she is subscribed and not blocked, why would she not have received in her email?

I’m double-checking on the addresses on the other two, so we can leave those for now.

    Thank you!

  • I only know of auto blocks if the emails are bouncing. Is there any chance that happened with the two of you?

M- If she is subscribed and not blocked, why would she not have received in her email?

For this one, she does have quite a bit of mail that’s successfully being delivered to that address, so my guess is that she’s got some filter sending them all to spam. She can try searching all inboxes, contacting her provider, etc. Or, she might just unsubscribe and try a different email address.

Yes, both joan@ and dawn@ did not come through. This is the first time this has happened. This person did not knowingly put an auto-block on either. Very bizarre that this happened to both of us at the same time.

    M. I’ll ask her. I know she has received in the past.

You are being tremendously helpful. Thank you!

  • Thank you! Let us know what more you find out from M.

And also, to clarify by what I meant by “bouncing” — it’s a bit like the “no such user” message you get if you accidentally send something to the wrong address. If there was an issue with your mail recently (and it seems the two of you use the same provider) the server might have automatically stopped trying to send messages to you. That’s just a guess, though.
