  I want to set up a website but all the references seem to indicate I am setting up a blog site..have I missed a turn?

  A Blog is a Website and vice versa. If you don’t intend to post regular changing content on a blog page then you don’t need a blog page. Instead set up your site consisting of pages only along with a menu to help visitors navigate.
