Blog page

Hi,
When I signed up to move my blog onto WordPress, I had to sign up and pay money to have a domain and so on. The money was quite a lot and for the year.
I now need to renew my account as I can’t even get into my wordpress blogs which is incredibly frustrating.
All I want is to be able to blog. How I do this without all the expenses from bluehost (I think they are). Is there any way of having my blog and not have to pay for a domain or have to pay every year? As I mentioned, i cannot enter ny page. If there is a fee for having my blog on WordPress….then I understand and I can look for solutions but bluehost costs a lot of money, and I didn’t want to sign up to them but felt I had to when I signed up with WordPress which is what I wanted as I heard great things about the company which is why I moved my content over.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot blog. Thanks

Hi,
First off, I’m not seeing that lilcrissyr.com is a site. Can you double check that URL?
Is there any way of having my blog and not have to pay for a domain or have to pay every year?
What is the main focus of your site? Personal blog? Professional homepage? Informational for a Business?
WordPress.com does have a free plan:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
However, the free plan uses a yourgroovysite.wordpress.com URL. If you want to use a custom domain (yourgroovysite.com) you’ll wantto purchase one of our paid plans. You’ll also need to pay for the domain registration, either through us or through the registrar of your choice. But that is true of any webhost anywhere. Domain registrations are never free, in my experience.
We’ve got a great guide that explains how to move your site to WordPress.com:
https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/
But the first thing you’ll want to do is to contact Bluehost’s support team and make sure that you can gain access to your site so that you can download a backup of the content. Without that, there is no way to rebuild your site here (or at any host). Do you have a site backup/export already?
Please let us know if you have any questions about WordPress.com, our plans, or our features.

This is turning out to be more tricky then I thought. There is nobody from bluehost that can help me because I cannot find a help support page that will help someone in the UK. This is becoming quite frustrating.
All I want is my blog back but under WordPress which is what I originally wanted in the first place but was sent via bluehost.
If someone can break all this down, I would be truly grateful. It’s seems that my lilcrissyr was taken because I didn’t not renew it.
Thanks -
Hi there!
If you already had a site hosted by Bluehost, and you want to recover or get the content back from that site, you will need Bluehost’s support. The WordPress site you were using with Bluehost used was known as a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which is different from the WordPress.com sites that we host. Because the two are different, we have no control/insights into the WordPress.org site you had with Bluehost.
You can create a new WordPress.com site at this link: https://wordpress.com/start – but if you want to get your existing site back, or even get an export, you must contact Bluehost support. Have you tried using the support info listed on this page? https://www.bluehost.com/contact
Also, the domain lilcrissyr.com appears to be available for registration now. If you want, you can upgrade to a WordPress.com plan and register the domain again on your new WordPress.com site. You would have to pay for a WordPress.com plan and the domain every year, though.
If you want a free blog, you can still register the domain with us, but it will redirect to your WordPress.com site with a
.wordpress.comaddress in the end.Depending on what you want (recover old content vs. create a brand new site), you can create a new site with us and contact Bluehost support to see if they have a backup of your old site with them.
Let us know if you have more questions.

I’ve bought my site back (with a different domain as I couldn’t afford the previous one. Is there a way I can back this up and move back to WordPress and not use bluehost?

Hi there!
Yes, definitely! You can create a new WordPress.com site and then follow the instructions below to import an entire site from Bluehost to WordPress.com.
If you have a website built with WordPress on another hosting provider, generally referred to as a self-hosted WordPress.org site, and want to move it to WordPress.com, use our Import Everything option. The Import Everything option will copy your existing self-hosted WordPress site to your new WordPress.com site, including your content, media, plugins, and the theme. PrerequisitesImport fAs for creating a new WordPress.com site, first, you will need to choose a WordPress.com plan to get started with. If your site has plugins or custom themes that you want to keep, you will want to choose the WordPress.com Business plan. The Business plan allows you to use third-party themes (which are themes not on our theme gallery) and plugins. It also gives you real-time backups with one-click restore, security scanning, automatic software updates, 24/7 live chat support for the yearly plan, and more.
Feel free to tell us more about your site and the features you need. Based on your requirements, we can offer more personalized suggestions. :)
Thanks!
