blog page messed up? post in widgets area? why??

up until this afternoon, my blog has been fine. this afternoon when i logged into my site, i noticed that my widgets are now displayed on the bottom left of the screen and one of my posts is displayed in the side column! how did this happen? i haven’t changed/reconfigured anything and i was wondering if maybe this a system glitch? can anyone tell me how to fix it? i tried to change themes but same thing happened.
any advice on how i can fix this would be great.

This is typically due to bad html in one or more posts. When something like that happens, you must first click the title of each post to see which post causes the problem (in your case it’s “how not to look hideous”).
Next, go to Settings>Writing, tick the option “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”, click Save Changes. Then edit the problem post (make any insignificant change, e.g. add then remove a space) and click Update Post.
PS With that option on, this particular problem won’t crop up again.

thanks panaghiotisadam but i followed your instructions and it didn’t work :(
so then i thought i might log in and log back out but still no change. and what’s weird is that the only theme that works with my blog is the Digg 3 column theme. every other theme i tried doesn’t work properly.
thoughts?

Seems to look fine to me. If you’re still seeing the error, then not only must you check that option pana told you, but you must also edit that particular post. Looks like you’ve pasted in some stuff from either Word or another site on the web, and that can add tags and mess things up.

@kpodaru: if you click the tile of “how not to look hideous”, you’ll see that the sidebar jumps to the bottom of the page, so even in Digg3 your post isn’t ok. Raincoaster is right, you have introduced extraneous code, and you’re right, it includes code that won’t be corrected by the option I suggested. Best way to get rid of all the junk is: copy all the text from the visual post editor, switch to html, select all, paste, then re-iinsert the images.

I’m having a similar problem on my blog page. I thought it was my latest post, but deleting the post didn’t work. Would you mind having a look?
Everything is fine on all of my pages except for “blog.” Each individual post seems fine too.wwww.sageoldwisdom.com
