Blog page missing!
-
I was trying to add my blog page to my static page but I can’t seem to find it. In the pages section the Blog post page is greyed out and says “Blog Posts
Not in use. “Untitled (#63)” is the front page.”. Is there a way I can reverse this?
I’m trying to duplicate twenty seventeen demo page but I’ve lost my blog page. Also, is there a way I can reset and start again?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
No worries. I can help you get back on track with the theme setup.
At the moment, your blog posts are publishing to the front page of the site. The front page is the first thing that loads for a viewer before they ever click anything. All of your posts will be displayed here.
Is that how you want things set up?
Alternatively, you can have the front page be something more static, like a Home or About page. The blog posts can then be set to publish on a different page. That “blog” page can be linked in the menu so folks can easily find it and read the posts there – they won’t be on the front page though.
Let me know which of these sounds like the best option for you.
After reading the original post here, it sounds like you might have deleted the page that was designated as the blog page. I can help you regardless. Just trying to make sure I’m on the same page with how you want things set up.
Write back :)

Thanks for the quick response!
I was trying to duplicate the demo page and was trying to get the blog posts to display in a section, the way recent news does in the demo page.
In short, yes, I’d like a static home page and the blog posts to be published on a different page; but, it would be great if there were a preview of the posts on the static page (which I think should be possible as per the demo page).
Hope I didn’t confuse you :(

Hey there,
I hope you don’t mind me jumping in to help. We certainly can help you get the front page looking like the demo.
First, can you make a page called “home”, and another called “blog” or “news” or whatever as you’d like? The names don’t really matter as long as they are clear to you. The blog one should be blank. The home page one does not have to be. Both need to be published. A draft won’t do.
Then set Home as the front page, and Blog for the posts page under Customize > Front Page settings. Save your changes and refresh.
From there, you can use the Theme Options panel to specify different sections of the front page. And you can add the blog page as one of those sections.

There’s a big long graphic. Just below that, though, it goes into the text instructions of how to do this.
