Blog picture

I have been trying to get my blog picture to change from the one wordpress gives to my picture. You know when you go to the tags or my general picture for my blog. I browse, upload the picture, crop it and I get a message saying that it will be up on wordpress soon but it never changes. Any thoughts. My blog is http://www.soupalaxy.wordpress.com. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

the page is kind of acting weird, with my experiences in editing profile or gravatar pictures, I just kept uploading over and over again until it finally worked. You probably don’t have that much time on your hands so maybe contact support, tell them your problem and they’ll fix it. http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

Avatars/gravatars can take up to 24 hours to propagate through the system and they will show up here in the forums first. Once it has shown up here, then it will typically within a few hours show up everywhere else.

Clear your browser’s cache.
For mozilla firefox :
Tools > Clear Private Data > Only tick Cache
It worked for me.

… so after waiting almost 24 hours,
I see that the Blavatar IS working….Still no sidebar picture!
(eventhough in the Dashboard it is on the “widgets into sidebar” form.
It it possible I checked some other form which is overriding that one?
(the form on the bottom of that same place (the one who sais: unvisible, but still working) is uncheckedhttp://sinistrycastle.wordpress.com
Help, anyone?

Have you added the gravatar widget to your sidebar? Take a look at this support document: http://support.wordpress.com/widgets/gravatar-widget/ .
-
Yes, I did,
that is why “the entry” (title) shows up in the sidebar…. but no picture………. -
The gravatar widget seems a little finicky. Make sure that on the pulldown under “Select a user…” that you choose the user/nickname you want to show. You do not have to enter an email address in that field if you select the user/nick from the pulldown. Select an image size and add text to the description box if desired and then click the “save” button and make sure and wait for the little spinning donut to disappear. Then click close and view your blog.

I just saw that,
unlike the other widgets like Calendar and Tags,
the Gravatar opion stays available in the “available widgets”-thing in the middle. Is it maybe that I am using Safari?
-
No, I use Safari and it worked for me.
After the recent widget upgrades, there appear to be a number of widgets now that can be inserted multiple times over what was available before. Since the gravatar widget has a “custom” option as well, you could actually put gravatar widgets into the sidebar and enter the email addresses associated with author and contributors and have their gravatar appear also. I think that is probably the reason you can insert multiple widgets.
This is what the settings in my test gravatar widget looked like: http://opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/files/2009/07/grav-widget.png .

I just asked the support team of WordPress,
because this is getting too dificult to work out.I hope they will finaly be able to help me….
-
@nicolevankuppeck – I replied to your support ticket with the resolution. For everyone else wondering, make sure that you have the “Show Avatars” option selected from Settings -> Discussion.

If you really need help, the forum is the last resort. I usually resort to figuring it out myself. It should be real simple, there is a question and then a suggested answer, not all the “chitter-chat”.
