Blog Picture / Icon & Gravatar

Please tell me the recommended image parameters to upload a “Blog Picture / Icon” and/or a Gravatar image. I’ve reformatted my blog logo numerous times, but every time I upload it to WordPress (under General Settings) or Gravatar, the image is too wide and must be cropped. I have a simple two-letter logo, but only one letter ever fits!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please see the following pages for recommendations on configuring your Blavatar/Gravatar:

Blavatars look best if the image you’re using is square and at least 128 x 128 pixels in size. Smaller sizes will be used in different areas of WordPress.com, so you may want to test how the image will look at these other square sizes: 16, 32, 48, and 96 pixels.

Thanks, pmciano. Simply resizing the image to 128 pixels did not work, but now knowing definitively that my dimensions were correct, led me to look for the problem elsewhere. Turns out that when I selected Export to turn the image into a PNG, Illustrator resized it to 96 x 49 — which forced WordPress to crop it down to a perfect 49 x 49 square, effectively cutting the image in half. The fix is to select Save for Web, instead of Export, which preserves the original image dimensions.
