Blog Post Doesn’t Show Up on Read
-
Just published an article (https://zettabytes.org/2025/08/01/nasa-news-2025-08-01/) and it has neither showed up in the reader or when doing site search. Also this time I didn’t get a little notification in that “bell” thing in WordPress.
I am a intermediate to advanced WordPress user so this is definitely not answerable with stock musings like “Is it the wrong post type”, “did you actually publish it”, “did it get scheduled” etc etc.
I included the post this time for reference.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I just published another article on my site, “The Shasta Triangle”, and it too never showed up in the “Recent” section of WordPress.com, and it wasn’t registered by that little bell in the upper right hand corner that usually says such and such just published an article on zettabytes.org
So, this is now the second (well this has been ongoing and I have other forum posts out on similar issues but I will make sure they are deleted leaving this one) article I’ve published in the last few days and the following 2 things are no longer happening:
- The published article never makes it to the “Recently Published” section of WordPress.com
- The published article is not acknowledged by the little bell (Jetpack App?) up in the corner
Please assist in me in trying to fix this please. I am a somewhat advanced WordPress user and the issue is not a publishing one, being of wrong post type, accidentally scheduled instead of published, or any of the boilerplate answers that are usually proffered when someone has a similar issue or complaint.
The site is https://zettabytes.org
Thanks,
Ron

I was able to get https://yottabytes.zettabytes.org removed from the servers that was in my profile as that’s a backup server and doesn’t get new content. Is there any way to completely remove from the Reader site?
My primary blog at https://zettabytes.org still does not have it’s newest published posts go to the Reader site, and new articles never show up in recent.
I believe it’s because I made a mistake way back when adding the yottabytes server to my profile and now when I publish articles from my primary site https://zettabytes.org the articles just never seem to make it to the Reader. I think it’s one of the reasons I stopped getting new subscriptions and people are subscribing to https://yottabytes.zettabytes.org and it’s been kind of a bummer for a few months now that things aren’t working with my primary site https://zettabytes.org.
Usually I get responses to these requests for help pretty quickly but looks like nobody has looked at this thread for three weeks now.
Sigh.
Should I delete all my WordPress.Com accounts and start all over? This is probably another reason why things just stopped working for me and Jetpack social doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge when I publish new articles (the little bell in the upper right hand corner never lights up when I publish a new article with the new added headache of people now subscribing to my live backup site.

Hi there,
Did you refer to zettabytes.org as the website where you’re experiencing the issue? If so, it looks like you’re using self-hosted WordPress, not WordPress.com.
https://wordpress.com/site-profiler/zettabytes.org
Therefore, it’s recommended to open a support ticket at the following URL for WordPress.org support.

I finally figured out what the issue was. It would have been really nice if someone simply said remove Jetpack from the site in question, and leave Jetpack on your main site you publish from, but this doesn’t seem like a solution that would be proffered, whether it was correct answer or not (it was)
Also I’ve been posting to the wrong forums so now I understand why I wasn’t getting that much help.
Thank you faisalahammad the information you provided will be useful and I will read through it.

Hi there, Just to add to the above, WordPress.org websites that have the Jetpack plugin installed can appear in the WordPress.com Reader. According to this Jetpack support guide, you do need to have at least one Reader subscriber/follower before your site will be crawled. That can be you.
If you are having issues with it, if you have a paid Jetpack plan, you might want to post to the Jetpack support center while logged in, or if you have the free plugin, to the Jetpack forums on the ORG site. There’s a link to it in the sidebar on the Jetpack site.
Hope that helps.

That does help. Over the years I’ve gathered 100+ subscribers and followers so I have that bit covered.
I just published an article 5 minutes ago and it still hasn’t shown up in the Reader and it doesn’t come up in a search. The article was also not acknowledged by the little bell icon. Sigh. Those are the two items I wish would work again. I know however the articles are making it to my subscribers via their email or however they have their notifications set because I get the likes and comments.
I’m looking through all my topics right now because someone mentioned there’s a specific Jetpack Reader Forum and that’s what I’m at this very moment trying to find by looking at the replies to my previous topics.
Thanks.
