Blog Post Emails Distorted and Rendered Oddly
-
I’ve notice over the past several weeks that in all of the WP blogs I subscribe to, the emails show the post with large chunks of random spaces between lines. The formatting, which looks fine on the websites, is a mess in the email. I’ve looked at the messages using different email apps and have asked others if the emails look off to them, too, and it seems like a consistent problem.
Anyone know a way to rectify it? It seems like a problem on WP’s end in generating the emails.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi castfalk,
Oh! Would you be able to send the address of one of the blogs you have subscribed to where the emails are coming though incorrectly?
And if possible, please make a screenshot of the spacing issue you are seeing in one of the emails. Please upload that to your Media Library and I’ll be happy to look into this for you.

Oh, can you actually include the links to the images here, if you’re uploading to a site not on our servers?
Also, let us know what email client you are using. I just tested the exact content of the other post, on my test site, and the email came through without any weird gaps. I’m using the gmail app on my Android.

Also, if you’re noticing that certain sites tend to have gaps frequently, please send links to a few of those.

Here’s the image link: http://www.carolynastfalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Screen-Shot-2018-11-14-at-10.18.43-AM.png
Blogs I’ve noticed with intermittent problems, aside from the one I previously linked:

https://ellengable.wordpress.com (I can’t recall now which post.)
I’m using Apple Mail 11.5 on an iMac or Mail for iPhone SE iOS 12.1.
If I view the first post I linked on my web-based mail server, the spacing is okay.
Thanks.

Thank you! So on all of these it’s only certain posts, and you only have trouble in Apple Mail, correct?
On your own blog, when you write posts, which editor do you use? Or are you copying and pasting from an outside source, such as a Word document?
-
Yes, it’s only certain posts. And I’m viewing in Apple Mail, and I don’t really have other email clients set up to check. I know that went I went directly to the email server on the Internet, the posts appeared okay in those emails.
On my blog, I write posts directly in the WP dashboard. I rarely copy and paste text from elsewhere.
Thank you!

I see nothing in the source code of any of these posts that would explain this, so it sounds like Apple Mail is just not rendering the HTML correctly. In that case it means this is something they’ll need to fix. If the code on the site itself was somehow broken we could fix that, but we don’t have control over how specific email clients choose to display the code.

Thanks! I see more oddly rendered messages in my box today. I’ll try contacting Apple. Thank you all for looking into this.

I chatted with an Apple customer service rep this morning. She thinks that the issue may be due to my “vintage” iMac. She recommends upgrading to a different iOS, so I will give that a shot. (But not today.)
I’ll let you know if that works.
