Blog post excerpts

I’m using the twenty thirteen theme and I want to change my settings so that only an excerpt from my posts show rather than the full post right up front. I don’t seem to have the option to edit visually and add a read more button. Is there any way to change it or should I choose a different theme? Also, if I choose to change themes, will all of my content be lost in the process or will it carry over?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello,

You can go to the dashboard. Please try to following to add a read more button in your blog.
    1. Go to the Dashboard – Posts- All Posts and select a post you want to edit and click on edit.

    2. Find the insertion point for “Read More.” It is a button on the toolbar that says “More.”

    3. Place your cursor at the position where you want to add the “Read More” link.

    4. Update the post and you are done.

Please try this. For more details, you can visit:

    And also,
Changing your theme won’t change the content your site but just the appearance.

    Thanks,
    Vinny

Okay, I figured out what the issues was. Apparently, to access the option to insert a “Read More” I needed to revert my editing style to classic rather than the newer update. I managed to fix it and followed your instructions. Thank you!
