“Blog post” header added to email subscriptions?
-
I noticed that WordPress just recently added the mailing list header information to the subjects of emails that get sent out to email subscribers.
e.g. my subscribers are now receiving something like:“[Blog post] Another blog entry”
instead of plain:
“Another blog entry”
as the subject line of the emails they receive whenever I post something new.
I would prefer NOT to have this bracketed header in my email subjects, or, at the very least, be able to edit them, but I can’t seem to figure out how to remove/edit it. Can anyone help me? Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Interesting. The emails never had that header before (the last post before my recent spate was Dec 17, and it resulted in a header-less email, just like all the other ones since I started using WordPress in November), so I’m curious as to why this “feature” is suddenly appearing, out of nowhere.
Thanks for the feedback!

I think they need to make it configurable. Maybe to make it more elegant by allowing users to customize it.
For now, if you want a customizable facility, you can do it with FEEDBURNER. FEEDBURNER even allows you to manage the subscription of the subscribers as well.
1) Choose account name
2) Click PUBLICIZE tab
3) Email Subscription option – Email Branding
4) Customize it and copy the code for WordPress
5) Stick the code in WordPress settings and voila!conrade

You may find that the subscriber numbers in Webmaster Tools may vary from those in your FeedBurner account. This is because Webmaster Tools subscriber stats reflect known subscribers to feeds hosted on your verified domain (www.example.com). FeedBurner sees all requests for your feeds, whether these requests are made to http://www.example.com/feed or feeds.feedburner.com/yourfeed. If a Google user is subscribed to the FeedBurner version of your feed (for example, feeds.feedburner.com/yourfeed or feeds.example.com/yourfeed), this information will not be reflected in Webmaster Tools subscriber stats, but it will be included in your FeedBurner stats.
