Blog Post Template?

I want all of my posts to have the same feel to them. It is kind of hard having to constantly adjust different settings, it makes posting a hassle sometimes. Do any of you use some sort of template to help you form each individual post? I am using Windows Live Writer and I think having a pre-made template would be much easier than writing up a post totally from scratch. For instance, I would like to start adding pictures to each post and I want each of those pictures to ALWAYS be on the left side and always have specific margins around them. It’s difficult when you have to go in and adjust all of this each time you post. I also only want to display 4 lines of text on my front page, then insert the more tag- it would be easier if I had something that I could pull up so all of this happens automatically without me having to make all of the adjustments myself. To me it’s pretty important that all of your posts carry the same feel to them and it just gets really time consuming, especially when you are trying to remember all of your settings. Any shortcuts?

Have you explored WordPress themes at all?

It won’t have predefiend posts structures quite how you describe, but each theme does change the default way posts appear and might be closer to what you want.

    Themes

And if you are familiar with CSS, you can get the CSS upgrade which allows for modifying themes:

Try using an offline blog editor like blogdesk or windows live writer; I believe they allow you to save templates.

I just looked at my Windows Live Writer and could not find a “template” but would not be the first time I missed a feature –

but you can save a “Template” as a draft then copy and paste in html mode and the formatting should transfer over – then switch back to visual mode – I have done that method in the past for simple template things.

No, I should have explained better. It’s more or less the same workaround as you describe: just save it as a Draft and use that. But if my memory serves, you can save the Draft and upload the new one with one click instead of copy/paste. It’s possible I’m misremembering, but I believe you can in most offline blog editors add tags and categories etc which are your defaults.

Yes you can add tags, categories – Windows Live Writer grabs copies of your Categories and Tags so you can associate them with the Post on your PC – you can publish / upload straight to your site or publish as a Draft so you can double check what a Post looks like.
