Blog post titles as permalinks

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m not finding a straightforward way to have a WordPress.com blog produce post titles that link to external sites rather than the post permalink, e.g.

    # [Post title](https://external.url)

Ideally I’d like for the post title to also include a permalink, e.g.

    # [Post title](https://external.url) [♠︎](https://post.permalink)

    Is this something that’s supported?

  • Hi there!

No, it is not possible to link the post title to an external site, it will always open up the post created on that WordPress.com site.

If you prefer to redirect your traffic from WordPress.com to a site hosted elsewhere, you can have a look at the Site Redirect upgrade:

I’m not looking to redirect traffic entirely. To put the request another way, I want to have two URLs in a post headline, rather than just the permalink to the WordPress.com post.

Is there any documentation you might point to that might explain why this isn’t possible, or what workarounds may exist?

  • Hi there,

You can’t have two URLs in the title of a post or page. That’s not supported on WordPress.com.
