blog post won’t publish

    I’ve loved WordPress for my blog for years.
    Altho I’ve consistently chosen to use the same dashboard format I began with, now I find I’ve been switched to a totally unfamiliar new system.
    What’s worse, IT DOESN’T WORK.
    Every time I hit publish, some ridiculous objection box pops up, about how I don’t have the right to ‘[use some value]’: something incredibly abstruse, with no clear explanation comprehensible to anyone but an expert programmer nerd.
    HOW IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE AN IMPROVEMENT?
    HOW DO I POST MY BLOG ENTRY?

    Hi there,

    What is the URL of the site you’re working on?

    If this is on a WordPress.com site, try logging out. Then clear all WordPress.com cookies in your browser, and also clear the browser cache. Then log back in.

    If you have an unsaved draft open on your site, be sure to copy that to Notepad as a backup before following these steps.

    Do you still see that error message after doing this, can you check if the same thing happens in a completely different browser?

    Thanks so much for your reply. Apologies for my delayed response.
    (I append to the end of this message reasons for my delay. Being essentially boring & not particularly pertinent.)

    If you mean my wordpress blog site that I’m inquiring about, it’s
    “collinsassassination.wordpress.com”

    I’ll try the measures you suggest.

    What I’d really like is the Blog Post Editor that I’ve always used.
    There seems to be an option “Classic Editor” with an icon: but it doesn’t click.

    (Blogging is a labor of love; which the present situation prevents my attending to as often as I like. Including trying to fix this problem.

    My first attempts to reply to your question were also delayed by the “no-reply” in the email I received with your response. Then finding I couldn’t post a reply here when I followed the link from the email. (And not having time at that minute to figure out why.)

    The Classic Editor has been retired but we have tips for transitioning from the classic editor to blocks https://wordpress.com/support/switching-from-the-classic-to-the-block-editor/.
    If you only wish to write text, there’s no need to add new blocks, every time you click Enter, a new Paragraph Block will be automatically created.

    And, if you want to use something like the Classic Editor, try the Classic Block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/.
