Blog posts
-
Hello everyone (again).
I think I may have figured why I can’t publish my blog posts to the Reader community and how as a result, I am not able to receive feedback.
When I started the blog, I think each post was a singular article and fairly sure I saw one post was listed in Reader.
But because I am a mixer, when a new mix is created and uploaded, it is just added to an existing page, for example:
https://theworldisyourlobster.blog/nineties/
So my question is; how do I make these single posts?
Also, I just noticed that visitors have abruptly stopped; regular views up until 28 January but nothing since.
Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not sure if this answers your question, but you could experiment to see if it puts you back in the Reader.
Make new posts by clicking ‘My Sites’ in the top left hand corner, then finding ‘Blog Posts’ and clicking ‘Add Post’ next to it.
Instead of adding a Page to your menu, you’ll need to create a Category (go to Settings, and in the Writing tab, click Categories) and then add the Category to your menu. (Maybe experiment with ’00s?) Then, be sure to select the relevant category for each of your posts so that they display under the correct menu item.
When viewers click on a category, all the posts will appear the same way as they do in your archive views. eg: https://theworldisyourlobster.blog/2017/12/ but you should be able to choose (in Themes/Customize/Content Options) whether readers see a short excerpt or full post when they open a Category of posts.
Every new post will then show up in the Reader instead of being lost as a page update.
PS: Your ’90s page looks good. Maybe when you’re comfortable with the above, you could split it into per-year posts under a decade category label, if you decide it’s worth the effort.

Excellent, thanks. I will follow this info later today. I do remember being befuddled in the beginning between categories and pages.
So, having pages is fine and looks good but I would prefere each mix to be a post in its own right and where it would have the reply box underneath; right now if anyone wanted to comment on any of ten mixes, say, in 90’s, they can only do so at the foot of the page.
It may be that I have to go back to basics and do categories to make single posts again, that would be quite a lot of reworking but worth it in the long run IF I can get the hang of single blog posts but keeping a pigeon-holed appearance for my blog, I guess that’s what I’m doing anyway, striving for the lazy perfection.

Okay, this is looking good – I just reworked the 80’s page into a category which is now the only one showing up top…
https://theworldisyourlobster.blog/
I can simply repeat repeat all the pages now and everything will be categorized and in single posts that folk can reply to.
I wondered, as it stands, where you can see the single posts, is it possible to add an image there as representation or is it text only?
