How do I get my blog posts to appear under ‘Blog’?
Your detailed theme description page with setup instructions is at https://wordpress.com/themes/gateway/
Are you asking: How do I get a full post displayed on the front page instead of the excerpt?
Select an older theme that provides that ability.
Switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
Since the mobile explosion that is the way most themes are being designed now.
Themes that provide automatic post excerpts on the front page followed by read more links like yours can sometimes be made to display full post through use of the excerpt box below the editor.
If you use a theme that automatically displays front page excerpts then here’s the workaround to compel the display of full posts on the front page. Edit the posts and look below the editor box to locate the excerpt module. You can control the length of the excerpt displayed on the front page and the exact excerpt that is displayed there. However, note that no links or HTML for images etc. will be active.
You compose your whole post first and before you publish it you switch to the HTML (Text) editor, copy the code for what you wish to appear, paste it into the Excerpt box below the editor, and publish the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/#creating-excerpts If you want to create your own excerpt for each post then that will have to be done on every post.

Hi,
How do I get my blog posts to appear under ‘Blog’? They’re in a side menu as posts. How do I link the 2? It currently says ‘This is the page where users will find your blog’
Your menu item “Blog” presently links to a page with the default content you mention. I’m not sure what you have the link or the default page content, but I would guess that you originally created the site with a static front page, then switched to displaying posts on the front page. You first and only post is displayed on the front page.
The “Recent Posts” listing in the sidebar is a widget. Whether you leave it or remove it has no effect upon the menu items or the front page.
To display posts in a drop-down menu under a menu item, you’ll have to do the following:
- First create and activate a custom menu, as described in the Custom Menus support page, including a top level item under which the posts will drop-down
- Add a link to each post as described in the Additional menu items section of the support page
Nest the posts beneath the top level menu item (e.g. “Blog”) as escribed in the Organize your menu section of the support page.
If you choose to add a “Blog” link to your custom menu, it may link to your homepage, to a posts page that is not your homepage, to a category page, or to a static page, depending upon your preferences and choices.
Also, my first post says ‘This is the excerpt from your first post’ and is not the first few lines of my post.
This looks like a default excerpt which may be deleted, thus allowing the post to draw an excerpt from your original post. See the Excerpts support page.

More corrections to my first post here. The list was formed improperly.
