Blog posts appearance on main page

  Help! I’m just creating my page and used the Blog style format and instead of showing just the Excerpt on the main page under the blog heading, it’s now showing the entire length of the blog… and it looks awful and I don’t know how to make it go back to just showing the small lead in…. ??? Does WordPress not have an online helper to assist like Weebly does? I’m trying to switch over but am so internet-impaired, I really need a good helper! HA!
