Blog Posts Block does not show "Read more" for old posts

  Hi,

  I’ve started using WordPress again after a long time and turned into using the Brompton theme. There are some old posts I published in the past.

  I created a page and added a blog posts block. There are 2 problems:

  1. When I turned on “Add a Read More link”, the Read More buttons of all posts do appear on the editing page. But those buttons of old posts do not appear after I published the page.

  2. When I turned on “Show excerpt”, all text of the old posts appear even when I chose the max numbers of words in the excerpt.

  How can I fix this?
