Blog Posts Block not showing Images

<font color=”#c9211e”>It’s time to admit that I can’t fix this by myself so I am very humbly reaching out to ask my fellow wordpress users if they can help. (Thank you VERY much in advance!) I am using a BLOG POSTS BLOCK in wordpress.com to display a single Category of Posts on a Page. Works like a charm. EXCEPT I can only get the Post’s text to show. I cannot get the video or images to show inside the Blog Posts Block. To be clear, the Posts displays everything including text, video, images, etc. whatever I put into it & displays it perfectly at the Posts url. But ONLY the text from that Post shows in the Blog Posts Block. I’ve read the following guide many times and still can’t make it work. PLEASE help! I hope that I have explained my problem clearly

There are maybe two settings you can try adjusting to fix that.
Settings>Reading> “Show a thumbnail image where available”
That’s one option, the next is in the settings for the Blog Post block. You can tell it to display a post’s Featured image.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have Settings>Reading> “Show a thumbnail image where available” turned on but no luck fixing the problem. Your suggestion for setting the Block to display a post’s Featured Image was my one of my thoughts too BUT the problem is that the Image I am trying to show in my Post is from Flickr. I’m using the flickr Block to Post the picture but then I’d also need to load that same image into my WP Media Library to get it to show via the Show Featured Image function. So it kind of seems that the Blog Post Block just doesn’t want to show images or videos NOT stored within WP?

@haremcinema That’s correct. Both featured images and images in Galleries need to be uploaded to your Media Library.
Also, since Libre 2 is a Classic theme, you might also need to check the Content Options tab in the Customizer to see whether “Featured Images: Display on Pages” is checked.

This shouldn’t be necessary anymore because the Block Settings should now override Content Options! If you’re still seeing that issue, please let me know and I’ll dig into why that old bug is re-surfacing…
It should just be a matter of needing to upload the Featured Image to your Media Library. :)

justjennifer thanks for the input. I tried your thoughts and even changed the Theme (again) this morning but still no luck fixing it. I appreciate your help, thanks for trying.

torres126 thank you so very much for your help. I tried changing the Theme this morning and that didn’t help but it did mess up my settings (ha!) So I set the website to Coming Soon while I reset it back to the way it looked before. Do you think that it ultimately comes down to there being no way to display Flickr / Vimeo etc. content in a Post into the Blog Post Block? Do you think the only way to make that display work is to put in into my WP Media Library? (Which kind of defeats my hope to use my Flickr, Vimeo, etc. accounts to store and display images & video) Thanks again for your help.

It’s just the Featured image you need on your local media, you should still be able to host your other pictures off-site. If conserving storage space on your site is a concern, I would suggest converting your featured images to Webp before uploading them to media. This will preserve image quality but save on space considerably.
