Blog Posts – Can Posts be Sub-divided under One Post?

I don’t think the title is very descriptive – apologies.

We have a website – ‘slaterunsportsmen.com’ – using wordpress.com. I have a static home page and several ‘tabs’ on the home page to choose from.

One of those choices is ‘BLOG’. Then under that tab is a list of blog titles. Let me pick one of them – Winter.

I wold like make multiple dated entries under this post titled Winter –

and have the ability of someone to make a comment under each dated entry

    .

It looks like right now – that comments all get put at the end of the post (page) titled WINTER.(this is the same for any of the other posts like Spring, Founder’s Rod, Fishing Regulations, etc… also I believe)

So I would like for people wanting to comment – that they could make a comment about a particular dated entry under a post. Is this possible? Or will comments always be placed at the bottom of the blog post ‘page’?

I would NOT like to have a new blog title for each dated entry that I make under those titles (like Winter, Spring, Summer…. Founder’s Rod, etc…)under the BLOG tab. If each time I make a post (page) it has to get titled and listed under the BLOG tab… that will make a really LONG list of titles under BLOG. THAT will just look awful and will grow every time I make a new posting. Doesn’t make sense to me.

    What do you folks think?

    Thanks – SRS

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there! It sounds like what you’re looking for is Category Pages. Want to give those a try?

We have an illustrated guide for creating them here:

I am not sure your suggestion is what I want to do. I tried what you suggested – and a new item was added to the menu…a menu choice of ‘Winter’ was added. That is not what I wanted.
If you go to our website menu – BLOG is one choice on the home page. Under the BLOG – Winter is one of the sub-choices.
I would like to make multiple entries in to that ‘Winter’ post/choice. These entries – stories written under the Winter tab – would have dates of the story written – listed at the top of the entry.
I would like to have comments be able to be located at the end of each of those dated entries (at the end of the story written).
As it is now – all comments are located way down at the very bottom of the ‘Winter’ post. The first story written was 2-27-2018 – and thereare4 comments listed below that. SO ALL comments are located under that initial story and that date.
I want to make it so that if someone comments on the most recent story/entry – that this comment would be located under that entry/story – NOT at the very bottom of the post/page.
    Do you understand?
    Thanks- SRS

  • What my colleague suggested is exactly what you’re looking for. :)

You’ll categorize those posts as “Winter” which will be give its own category page that will list all “Winter”-categorized posts: https://slaterunsportsmen.com/category/winter/

To make sure that “Winter” is added to your menu exactly as desired, customize your menu: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Ok – 2 staff people say this will work – I am not trying to offend and will accept your suggestion that this will work.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to make it work.
I do not want each dated Winter post entry to be a choice in the home page menu under BLOG. I want a listing under Winter to contain all stories posted under the ‘Winter’ category.
The only HOME page menu tab I want to see on the main menu is BLOG – then WINTER- then if someone selects WINTER – they’ll see each post entry. I’ll have to reorganize and put each dated entry under WINTER in to their own post I believe – and that will be the distinct dated post entry I think.
Like I said – I’ll work on this tomorrow and go from there.
Thanks for a confirmation response macmanx and thanks supernovia for the initial response.

  • They will have to appear under the blog feed, as that is the feed of all posts, there is no way around that.

But, you can remove Blog from your menu if you’d like: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
