I want to know how I can organize my blog so that posts under say beauty is on the beauty page but gives a preview of the post on the homepage. I have the free version of WordPress, does this affect my ability to accomplish this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

hi,
hi,
This free feature is what I suggest:
1. Create categories eg Fashion
2. Write posts and assign them to relevant categories
3. Add the Categories widget to your sidebar
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/I set up a sample blog here:

Hi there,
The instructions you actually need are the ones for category pages:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
You create these by assigning categories to your posts, and then adding those categories to your site using a custom menu, not a widget as explained above.
You’ll also need to remove the regular pages you currently have added to your menu – for category pages you add the category itself directly to the menu, and it doesn’t use regular pages created under My Site ->Pages.
This will not remove the posts from the front page, which will show all posts in order of publication with most recent at the top, but you’ll be able to view posts on specific topics on their respective category pages.
And I see you already have your theme set up to only show excerpts on blog and archive pages, so that should happen automatically.
