blog posts& page ends abruptly

At my site, it’ve got a double side of posts were there were page widgets and the page of the theme ends abuptly. I have no idea how. actually, this is happening on both my blogs and I need to know how to fix it please.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Your blog url, please, Ozy?

That blog is protected, so we can’t see it to pinpoint the problem. Either make it temporarily public to users but not to search engines (privacy option no. 2 of the three), or give us the link to your other blog, if that one isn’t also protected.

In the meantime you can check this for one of the possible causes:

    http://faq.wordpress.com/2008/06/17/formatting-issues-with-the-more-tag/

For another, go to Settings > Writing, check the option “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”, click Save Changes.

There are other possibilities, too. If you don’t manage to correct things after the above, and if you cannot turn your blogs public, tell us if the problem goes away or not when you view your second page of posts (“previous entries” tab) or a single post (by clicking on its title). Also tell us if you’ve been pasting from Word.

Alright. I’ve changed the settings on the blog and you should be able to view it now.
I tried getting to the older blogs to check another page and I can’t reach them.

No, I haven’t been pasting from word but pasting from several blogspot blogs.

Ok thanks, you can turn it to private again, if you must.

    1. I visited your blog with three different browsers: theme is ok, page ends correctly, posts and sidebar are in place, “Older Entries” tab works. So you’re probably having a browser problem. Try logging out, clearing your browser’s cache and cookies, and restart. (Which browser are you using? Explorer perhaps?)

    2. The only obvious (but minor) malfunction is that your page takes too long to load, which wouldn’t normally be justified by what is actually displayed (e.g. you don’t have too many images, videos etc.). That (and possibly also what you’re complaining about) is due to all that direct pasting: you have introduced LOTS of junk code in your posts (I can give you examples, if necessary) – code that was functional where it originally was but is now useless or detrimental.

There are so many things that should be removed that, even if you are familiar with html, I think it would be better for you to get rid of everything at once instead of deleting the countless bits of junk code one by one in the html post editor. If you don’t already have a backup, I suggest you first make a full copy of all the texts in a way that will retain the formatting (bold, indenting etc.); then for each post copy all the text from the visual editor, switch to the html editor, paste it there, then switch back to visual and reformat it using the editor’s tools.

For the future, keep in mind that you should never paste directly from sources that will introduce extra code: if you have to paste, use the “Paste as plain text” button and do the formatting afterwards. Or get Windows Live Writer (if you are a PC user) and format the material there.

    3. You also have several no-show alerts for images in some posts, because you’ve set wrong links: for instance, in your Dec. 3 post you give an URL of your admin page instead of the URL of images uploaded in your media library. Check the FAQs on images.

Thanks. I’ll give the clearing my browser a try and see if that works.

Well that didn’t work. I dumped the history and cookies from IE and the page is still wonky. I also can’t place the blogs is Word due to the HTMLs they’ve used. The copy is way too light to copy back. I can do as a back up but I would never copy from Word.
Yes, I am useing IE as my brower.

    – If it’s IE6, it’s obsolete and you should throw it away immediately (even the official IE pages advises abandoning it). But IE7 is also strange, and it’s not one of the browsers WP recommends: better try Firefox.

    – I’m not sure I understand the bit about copying: the point is precisely to lose all that extra html. My suggestion for a backup is to copy the texts from the main blog page, not from the post editor; and that can be in Word or in any other text editor. Just don’t paste from Word to the editor without the special pasting button I mentioned.

    – Now of course having to reformat all that material is much work, too. Try something else first and see if things get any better: highlight all the text in the post editor and click the “Remove Formatting” button (dn’t forget to click Update post after that). That won’t affect good code, but it will remove some of the junk.

    Good luck!

Where do I find the “remove formatting button. I open a blog, hit edit but neither in visual nor HTML do I see a “remove formatting button”

I can’t change browser. I’m also on a dialup connection. Downloading things like a new browser would take 16+ to download on dialup.

    1. Visual.

    2. That’s probably part of why you’re experiencing this: I have a fast connection, and still your page took some time to display the theme properly. With a slow connection and all that wrong stuff, it might never load completely (or seem so).

Well, according to the link, the button I an looking for in the editing process, # 26, is no longer available in the editing process. I will just do it by hand, one blog at a time.

Thanks for attempting to help me. I learned alot but the slow connection will not be changing anytime soon

#26 never went away. If you only see one row of buttons, note #15!
