Blog privacy

When marking a particular blog as ‘private,’ does that mean blocking ALL readers, including both those with a WordPress account and those without one? Or can WordPress account holders still access the blog?

It means blocking everyone. The only ones that would be allowed are those that you allow by entering them under settings > privacy when the blog is set to private. I believe you can add 35. More than that would require a paid upgrade. Also be aware that the people would have to either have a wordpress account, or sign up for one in order to be a user on your private blog. They don’t have to sign up for a blog, but they do have to have an account.

An other option would to pass word protect the pages- and then you can give your subscribers the pass word to view the pages in question.

Thank you both. That clears it up for me. :)
