Please help! Why don’t I have a picture next to my blog’s name? I see just the silhouette of the head and shoulders before you have set up a profile. I have added a gravatar, uploaded another image to my profile, followed the exact steps in the quick start guide and nothing. I can’t figure this out anywhere!

You don’t seem to have either a gravatar or blavatar uploaded.
The blavater (blog avatar – image that will appear next to your blog’s title in the toolbar at the top of the page) is uploaded at Settings ->General in your dashboard.
The gravatar image (which will appear next to your username whenever you comment on a blog or post in the forums) is uploaded to gravatar.com but you can reach it from your dashboard by going to Users ->My Profile.
Note that both can take a while to appear after you’ve uploaded them. More info here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/

Need a little assistance here please.
I have created a character (Zac) to author on our blog.
I have used my own email to create a Gravatar account and then added Zac’s email as an additional email and assigned the characters avatar to this email.We have now posted a blog with Zac as the author. His user profile has his own address. Zac@…
I have ensured I toggled the Setting> Discussions to allow for Gravatar.His character image does now appears in Users. But does not appear on the blog article itself.
Is there a step I’ve missed
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let me just make sure I understand: You created a blog with your own username. When you say you added Zac as author, did you create a separate user account with the username Zac and then invited that user as an author on your blog? Or did you only add Zac’s email to your own Gravatar profile?
If you want to be able to post under a different username than your own you’ll have to create a completely different account under that username with its own unique email and add it as an author to your blog under Users on the dashboard. When you create a new post you can either log in under Zac’s username (in which case the post will automatically be authored by him) or under your own username (as administrator of the blog you can select other users as author when you publish a post – you do that in the post editor).
Some themes will display the author name as a byline within the post, but not all. I don’t know if any themes display the author’s gravatar image as well within the post. I haven’t seen it yet.
If I’m misunderstanding you please feel free to elaborate. It might help if you can include the URL of the post published under Zac’s name.

^^ thank you – it looks like I uploaded a blavatar/gravatar in my settings but perhaps as you mentioned it will just take some time to show up. If it does not show up soon I will follow the steps again and try with a different picture. Any idea why it takes time to show up?

I have an image showing in the profile section under profile picture but still no blavatar.

I don’t think it should take this long. Also, if you’ve uploaded the Gravatar image it should be appearing here in the forum next to your username as well, which it’s clearly not. I’ll tag this for staff to follow up. They’ll be able to check whether your images are uploaded in the right place and why they’re not appearing. Make sure you’re subscribed to the thread and be patient while waiting for a response.

Hi! Can you visit your Gravatar account here, and see if the image you uploaded is currently selected for your email address? It looks like the default image is selected for your account when I view it here.

Additionally, please make sure that the recent image is given the appropriate rating.
To upload a blavatar for your blog, go to Settings -> General in your admin panel:

Under “Blog Picture / Icon” on the top right corner, upload your desired image to become your blog’s blavatar.
