blog registration issues

  Hi there

  I have just signed up to the service and attempted to register the blog title thisbigcity.wordpress.com

  however, this blog does not appear in the my blogs section, and when I tried to register it again in case there had been an error, it told me the blog was reserved. what does this mean? it is reserved by me? and when will it stop being reserved and I can start building it?

  Is there a way to invite my friends to visit my blog without their having to register?
