Blog set up problems

  • Unknown's avatar

I started to set up a new blogsite, but I accidently entered an invalid email address. I waited 3 days (the message I got when I first set up the account was that if I didn’t verify the account within 2 days I would have to start over again) and tried to set it up again. It says I already have an account, but when I try to log in (with what I originally used), it says my login is invalid. Not sure where to go from here. I want to use the blog name and user I originally used, but all I get is that both have already been used.

    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog and we can’t help you here at WordPress.com. Post to the WordPress.org support forums.

I’m not sure where shesueexperience got picked up. This blog no longer exists.

My problem happened when I was attempting to set up a blog at wordpress.com. The blog title I used was 4thGradeScience, which when typed into my browser, does not exist. That is because I never authenticated it because I mis-typed my email address.

BUT, when I try to set it up again (after 3 days), wordpress says it already exists…. This after they said I would need to start over if I didn’t authenticate the site within 2 days.

Does this make better sense? Don’t know where to go from here.

Please post an active link starting with http:// to the exact blog in question. Without that it will not be possible to get support.

I can access this blog http://4thgradescience.wordpress.com/
Is it the one you mean?
If so then do not despair as I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. You can provide the correct email address to Staff when they enter this thread and they will sort this for you.

Well that explains why WordPress said the domain was already used. This isn’t me. So I need to start over, but when I try to start over I am told that my email has already been used. I’ve tried all three of my email addresses, wordpress says they have all been used. What a mess!

So I have several blogs all using wordpress as the template all hosted elsewhere, but I do not have a wordpress.com blog which is what I’m trying to set up. What do I need to do?
    Thanks for your patience!

@shesue: I’m sorry that this is confusing. I’ll be happy to work it out with you and get you set up and blogging.

To clarify, you don’t have to create a new account (username) if you want to start a new blog. For example, you can keep your current username (shesue) and create a blog about 4th grade science (you’ll need to pick up a blog address that’s not currently taken: e.g. http://4thgradesciences.wordpress.com or http://4thgradesci.wordpress.com, for example).

You can use this link to create another WordPress.com blog (if you are logged in, the form will recognize you).

I hope this helps! If you want to consolidate your accounts/blogs on WordPress.com (move from one username to another, for example), this support article should help: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

And if you are having trouble logging in and don’t remember your password, you can reset it here: http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

Let me know if you need further support starting a new blog or sorting out your various accounts.

Thank you for your response. I clicked on the address to reset my password. I got the email and followed the link to reset my password. I then followed the link to login with my new password. Here is the message I get:
“User shesue Cannot Access the Dashboard Requested

You are logged in as “shesue” and do not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for “WordPress.com”. If you are not “shesue”, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are “shesue” and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.”

    Now what do I do?

It MIGHT be that the system wants to send you to the dashboard of a blog, so click to create a blog first https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/ and then, thereafter, sign in from the whatever.wordpress.com/wp-admin link directly to your blog.

That global WordPress “dashboard” is giving people all kinds of trouble. It’s nothing you’re doing wrong.

  • shesue does not have access to the blog http://4thgradescience.wordpress.com/

You need to log in as the correct user, 4thgradescience.

I am soooooo confused. As suggested I attempted to sign up for a new account. When it said my email address was already used, I asked for a new password. I got a confirmation email claiming that I was user: shelleyduncan205440999. I figured maybe I was assigned a user name, so went to my profile to change it. I got an error message that I was not allowed to go to the dashboard of “sports Journalism”. No idea what this is. When I clicked on the link for sports journalism it brought me to a blogsite for Matt Mellenweg. No idea who this is and he definitely should not have my email address!!

    HELP!!!

By the way, my user used to be shesue, now its shelleyduncan205440999.

  • shelleyduncan205440999 is a new user account that you registered just two weeks ago. It has no blogs under it.

shesue is still an active user account as it was yesterday. All you need to do is log out and then log back in as shesue.
