Blog Sidebar Missing
-
I had a sidebar, now it does not show. If I load widgets to blog sidebar they go to footer.
My site is https://gregpoppleton.wordpress.com/. How can this be fixed? I’ve put in a video widget to test. Thank you, Greg -
Hello there, this is odd. The theme showcase page for Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.com/theme/twentyseventeen only mentions widgets in the footer, but looking at a Google cache of your Photos tag page, I definitely see a sidebar there.
I’ve gone ahead and flagged this thread for Staff attention and assistance. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

I’ve also grabbed some screenshots, which can temporarily be seen here https://cloudup.com/ck8tR9L6fwh
The first three screenshots are from Google’s cached version from March 1 and the last screenshot is the tags page directly from the current website.

Hi Greg!
The sidebar widgets are still in the sidebar, but they will not be displayed on your homepage.
When adding the widgets to the sidebar, you’ll see this:Add widgets here to appear in your sidebar on blog posts and archive pages.
On the homepage, those widgets will be moved to the footer.
I hope that helps :).
You can also consider changing your theme to a different one. You can try themes without activating them by clicking on the three dots next to the theme’s name and choosing the option Try&Customize.
This will allow you to see how the theme would look like with your content and how you could customize it.

Thank you staff-mckluskey I completely missed this:
The blog, archive, search, and single blog posts also include a sidebar widget area. When enabled, the content will appear in one column, and the widgets in the other. This happens even if you’re using the one column layout.

Many thanks staff-mckluskey and @justjennifer for your time and effort in researching solutions to this problem. Very much appreciated. I will also check out other themes. Best Regards, Greg
