  Hi. I am thinking about switching my blog to a private web host. Does anyone know if I will be able to keep my current # of visitor hits if I switch?

  Some services like statcounter or sitemeter allow you to enter a starting number for stats, but you cannot do that with the blog stats plugin from wordpress.

  And for self-hosted blogs, and what can be done on them you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.org/support/ .
