blog stats..a link that somebody is clicking on my page

I don’t want to post my blog here. This question is about my blog stats. I have a url link there that it says somebody clicked on my page. It’s to a mild porn site that I did NOT post on my blog. does this mean somebody hacked into it..or that they’ve somehow left a comment I can’t see with a link to this site on it? How do I search for it or find it so I can delete it?

It could be (I suspect it is) from a “possibly related post (automatically generated)”. What you can do, is go to the single post pages (click on the title or the “comments” link on the posts on the main blog page and take a look at the possibly related posts listed at the end of your posts and see if it is one of them. There have been a few instances of “adult” links making their way into those.

You can disable the possibly related posts if you wish by going to appearance > extras.

Sounds like it to me too. In the past, staff has asked that people contact support directly about inappropriate links that appear. They do want to know about them.

thesacredpath..am I going to have to go through all my posts on my whole blog? Sorry to be so dense..really not understanding where I need to do what you are saying. :(

ok I did do the related post thing. Got that part taken care of. Thank you :)

The only way to find the link would have been to start going through your posts one by one and then you could have reported it to staff and given them the location so that they could make adjustments. I don’t know if any other way.

If you turned them off though, then the problem is solved for you.

I looked through all blog posts that I thought would have possibly triggered it but found nothing. Did searches ..etc. I have turned that feature off and have also contacted wordpress to alert them to the blog. It’s too bad people have to ruin this stuff for those of us who use it as a form of relaxation. Thanks for your help :)

Yeah, the possibly related posts thing is not perfect, but it is considerably better than it was when first introduced.

    And you are welcome.

ok so I’ve got another question. That possibly related post thing would still be showing up on my blog stats “clicks”… I still am afraid there is a link hidden in a post somewhere and really I’ve got a year and 1/2 of blogging to go through to try and find it. I’ve tried searching comments and posts using the words in the link but nothing shows up. Somebody was pretty clever. I did send a notice to wordpress but havnent’ got a reply from them. I would really love to find the links originality to remove it from my blog. It just showed up yesterday in clicks. Which is frustrating.

It will stay there in clicks until something else bumps it off of the list.

There really is virtually no way for anyone to hide a link in your blog unless they had your username and password. WordPress.COM is very secure.

Wait for staff to respond. Since they have access to the back end of things they should be able to tell you exactly where that link came from.
