blog subscribers getting emails aren't logged as visits…why?

  I love that subscribers get a copy of my blog posts in their inboxes, but there’s a downside which is that I don’t know who has actually read them.
  I would much rather have a link sent to a subscriber, so that they then go to my blog, where I can see how many visitor and views I’ve gotten.
  Is there a middle ground to this, that is the way subscribers get updates and can they be ‘counted’ somehow?
