Blog subscribers viewing from Ipad – crashes
-
Such an odd thing, if anyone can please advise…..
My wordpress.com blog crashes for my viewers when they view on Ipad 7.0.4 (yes ipads are updated). It loads for a few seconds then crashes. It does this on safari and chrome. It does NOT crash on PC or Mac or Iphone. It also does not crash on the Ipads IF you use long address of lindastamps.wordpress.com but does if I use lindastamps.com
Worked fine until today as far as I know. All my services are up to date with wordpress.comAnd I should explain that it’s not the app – it’s when my visitors are using their ipad to visit my wordpress.com blog. It’s not when I’m updating. I use the PC to post mostly. If I visit my blog from an ipad, it crashes. Just regular safari or chrome as a visitor.
The blog I need help with is lindastamps.wordpress.com.

Hi there,
I noticed that you do not have a domain mapping upgrade on your site. How are you making your site appear simultaneously on both lindastamps.wordpress.com and lindastamps.com at the same time? If you are using domain masking/forwarding to remove “wordpress” from your site URL, it will cause all kinds of problems.
Can you add the domain mapping upgrade to your site, and set it up to replace your lindastamps.wordpress.com with lindastamps.com using this method?
This should solve your issue, but if not let me know and I will take a closer look.

I set up the domain map from godaddy.com over 6 years go before it was offered from wordpress.com So it maps from godaddy.

Do I still need to do the upgrade? I don’t mind doing it at all if that’s going to fix it but I want my domains to stay where they are.

I turned the masking off at godaddy temporarily to see if that fixed the problem. It didn’t .

Correct, your domain will be continue to be located at, and managed by, your GoDaddy account. The mapping upgrade will just allow you to use that domain here in a way that is officially supported.

Changes to a domain can take up to 48 hours to be updated for all visitors, so it is unlikely you would see an immediate change. However, on my end I see that when I type in “lindastamps.com” I am automatically redirected to “lindastamps.wordpress.com” so it looks as if you have removed the masking, but the domain is still being forwarded to your default “WordPress.com” URL
You will want to remove this forwarding as well (on GoDaddy’s end) and use the domain mapping upgrade to apply your custom domain to your site here. Once configured correctly, the upgrade will handle all the redirections required.
Let me know if you need assistance or if you have any questions.
