  Would like to put a link to blog subscriptions in the first sentence of the
  “about me” page— Possible?

  Unfortunately, no. The email subscription is actually an interactive form, not something that you can link to. Instead, I suppose you could add a widget to your sidebar and just mention that it’s there.
