Blog takes a long time to download

    My blog takes a long time to download. I’m sure it is because I have a photo in each posting. The size of each picture that I upload is always below 150KB. When I send a picture to the editor, I choose the image size, because the picture looks a lot better. I will then resize the picture so it is a nice size for the post.

    Is there a better way to upload my pictures so they take up less space, but still look good? How do some of you deal with all of your photos?

    Thanks,
    Christine — http://glassart.wordpress.com

    Here are some ways to shorten page loading time:
    (1) Reduce the number of posts that appear on your front page
    -> Options -> Reading -> scroll to
    Blog Pages
    Show at most: ___posts
    choose a lower number and click “Update Options” to save.

    (2) optimize, pre-size and resize your images all images.

    (3) Turn off Snap Previews -> Presentation -> Extras

    P.S. I hope you know that wordpress.com blogs are non-commercial blogs that cannot be used to drive traffic to 3rd party sites. And I hope you know that blogger advertising is not allowed either. You may have a link to your business website on either your About page or in your sidebar. But you cannot have a link at the end of each post traffic to your domain.

    (4) Have you considered using only thumbnail sized images linked to the full sized photos at a 3rd party image site? That would cut down page loading time considerably.

    HTH happy blogging :)
