Blog Theme

I have noticed that my blog does not appear exactly how it is advertised in the thumbnail. I am using the Illustrar theme, and on the thumbnail, the blog has a big title that says Illustrar , then a few categories on the page, and the below his there are different thumbails of each individual blog. However, when I apply the theme to my blog, my posts just show on the home page for my viewers to read. How do I get my blog to set up exactly the way the Illustrar design is displayed in the thumbnail? This does not only apply to the Illustrar themes as this has happened to me with other themes. Maybe I’m forgetting to I do something here ? Help please.
