Blog Theme back to Default / Factory Settings
-
Could someone please reset to factory settings?
I am trying to sort out the theme for my site, but any theme i load, it only shows my settings from previous themes and i would really like to start from scratch.
I have no content yet uploaded as was trying to sort my site out before using!
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
You may either
1. follow the steps at the Empty Site support page, or
2. Add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention, if you would like staff to clear the content for you. -
Depending upon the theme and the changes you may have made, emptying the site will not necessarily restore the site/theme to the default state. So you might want to ask staff for help on this.

Thanks musicdoc1.
I have nothing on my site so the empty site but didn’t really do anything!
I was just trying to sort theme out before I added anything!
I have noticed other users have had staff comment saying they can press or run something to clear it all. Am hoping they can for me too.
I think I’ve added a tag correctly. I’m on my phone and the only ‘tag’ option is at the very bottom so I’m hoping I’ve done it to flag staff attention! -

This thread has been marked for Staff assistance and they will answer as they work through the threads marked for their attention. Please be patient.

I ran our setup tool on your site (it’s called Headstart) and you can see the results here:

Thanks Kathrynwp, does this mean everything is back to ‘factory settings’ so any design I go for should be able to go and edit/design from scratch?

Headstart sets up a specific theme to look like that theme’s demo. So since your site was running Sela, the tool made your site look like the Sela demo.
If you’d like me to run Headstart again when you make a final decision on a theme, let me know.

Sorry to be a pain but i’ve gone into a different template to look at and it seems to still be showing settings from when i’ve tried before.
I was wondering if you could reset everything so i had no customised options or any theme selected as if i had just loaded from creating my domain name.

That isn’t really possible. If you switch back to a theme you’ve used before, the site remembers the settings you had when you used that theme. I can run Headstart to get it as close to the demo as possible at that point.

Oh right ok.
I was looking at Lyretail I think its called. It was between those two, and just depended on what i could customise. If you could do it to Lyretail that would be great, that way i can see which i prefer.
Sorry and thanks

Lyretail has a plain blog format, as you can see here:
https://lyretaildemo.wordpress.com/
There isn’t any special setup with it, so the Headstart tool wouldn’t do much and isn’t worth running. If you decide to switch to Lyretail and need any help with it, let me know, but the setup tool isn’t necessary for that one.

I have gone into that to try and customise it and it is showing settings ive had previous not the default layout

Where are you going exactly? I don’t see Lyretail on your site.
Once you decide which theme you want I would be glad to help with setup, but you’ll need to activate the theme first and we can take it from there.

When I go into any theme to try to customise it always has previous settings from other themes.
I have now chosen baskerville. It has an image from Sela and layouts from others.Could you run the Headstart for this if possible and i will stick with this one once its back to how it looks in the demo.
-
Baskerville doesn’t have any special setup.
If you want it to look like the demo, do the following:
1. Go into your Customizer‘s Static Front Page panel and set it to display the latest posts instead of a static page.
2. Add any widgets you’d like in the Customizer’s Widgets area
3. Remove or add any pages as needed in the Customizer’s Menus area
