Hi, my original blog theme seems to have disappeared. So when I logged in earlier today it was on a default one. When I google my blog I can find my old posts, but when I log into my account they are not there. Please can you help? I started to rewrite my old posts and publish them, but I do not know what my followers can see and whether it is even working.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

The site https://sewmyownblog.wordpress.com/ presently has the Button 2 theme applied. Which theme did you previously have on it? In seven years at the forum I’ve never heard of a theme spontaneously changing to another theme.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I can’t remember the name of the theme I had before it was a free one. I don’t know if I can include screenshots, but hopefully this link should work https://sewmyown.wordpress.com/2017/09/01/secret-christmas-linden-swap-2017/

So you’ve now identified the following two sites:

    • 1. The site https://sewmyownblog.wordpress.com/, by username sewmyownblog, which has the Button 2 theme applied.
    • 2. The site https://sewmyown.wordpress.com/, username unknown, which has the Sela theme applied.

The second one isn’t authored by user sewmyownblog, so it’s in a different account. You’ll need the username (or email address) and password of the other account in order to log into it.

    Hi,

Thanks. They are both mine, but I do not know how they have become seaparated or how I how I now have two sites. The second one is my original, but every time I draft a post and preview it it ‘reverts’ to the second post’. When I log into them both and go into settings and my profile all of the details are the same including the passwords.

Is there any way to merge them or delete the second one only, please?

    Hi,

Thanks so much for your help! I have managed to delete the second account and keep my primary one and all of my posts.

    Hi,

You’re welcome! I see that the site sewmyownblog site has been deleted. However the account is still open. Instructions for how to close an account and relevant information are found in the Close My Account support page.

The reason I said the the username of the other site is unknown is that last night when I tried to find the author archive page I produced a ‘page not found’ error. Maybe I spelled it wrong, because it’s available now, here: https://sewmyown.wordpress.com/author/sewmyown/.

    You’re welcome. : -)

Fyi, there’s no need to close the account. If you have no plans to use it in the near future, that’s fine. It can remain open and inactive for as long as you like.
