Blog Title

  Help! I used to have a blog through wordpress but stupidly deleted it. I have set up a new one with a different url. I thought this was what was being referred to when the faq’s talked about not being able to use the name again. Now I realize (of course) that it was referring to the actual blog name. I used the same one that I had before so now google is bringing up the old blog instead of the new one. All that is shown is “this blog has been deleted.” I went to “my blogs” under the dashboard but can’t find a way to alter the name. Is there any way for me to change the name of the blog but keep all the work I have already done. Any remedy…..?

  You can change the title in Settings > General

  I know how to change the title :) I guess I should have posted blog name instead. I am talking about the name of the blog when you register…

  That cannot be changed. The only way to change that is register another blog, and export the old posts into the new blog.

  Your username cannot be changed and if you delete the first blog the url cannot be recycled. here are instructions you may find useful http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#toc

  this is very helpful. but i am still a little confused on something. when wordpress says that you can never you the blog’s name again, are they referring specifically to the domain name with the url address? or are they talking about the title that you give your blog in the registry? i notice that when you change the title of the blog in the general settings it does not change in the info under “manage my blogs” in the dashboard….

  The reference is to the url. Blog names can be changed here -> Settings -> General

  Example: If http://whatever.wordpress.com is deleted that url cannot be recycled and used again.

  i changed my blog title, but when I look under my dashboard, my blogs, it still lists the old blog title… how do I change that?

  I’ve already gont into Setting/general and changed the title – it is listed correctly in there. And it is showing correctly on the actual blog. But it is not showing correctly in the actual “My Blog” list…
