Blog Title Cut-Off After CSS Edit

  • Unknown's avatar

I just upgraded to the CSS edit package today, and only changed the colors in my Andreas 04 theme. Everything looked great in preview, but after I saved the changes, the title of my blog is chopped off along the top edge. Can someone look at it (nancyluckhurst.wordpress.com)and tell me what might have happened so I can fix it? I appreciate any help! Thanks!

It just happened to me also and I realized that – if you want to keep part of the existing layout intact, like the title image – the CSS edit should not include ALL the style sheet but only the pieces of code you want to be changed. I just wanted to change the body font. It messed up everything when I uploaded the full modified style sheet, but worked fine when editing the {body} tag.
Actually it works like the edits are adding to the existing style sheet – or overiding parts of it -, but not replacing it.
    Hope it helps.

    I’m confused. :(

After editing the CSS, I chose the “start from scratch” option, not the “add to existing CSS” option- shouldn’t that have worked? I previewed it and everything was fine, then saved it.
What good is preview mode if it doesn’t reflect what you will see? I changed almost all the colors, so it would be a nightmare to isolate and upload every individual piece of code with a color change.

Isn’t there an easier way to do this?

Actually, it only looks cut off if you are logged in. If you log out, it looks fine.

But if you want to change it, try adding some padding to the h1 area of the code.

I have just encountered a similar problem. I just upgraded to the CSS package today, and only made minor changes to the font sizes and colors of the Pressrow theme. But once I saved the changes, my blog banner is completely gone. It wouldn’t show any of the banner images – neither the original banner nor my chosen banner images. Can someone help? Thanks.

Yes, the CSS overrides the custom header. You’ll need to add the images into your CSS.

    Yahoo! (Oops, wrong place! :))

Thanks to all for your replies.

vivianpage- you are the winner. Adding the padding worked, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out why it was needed when all I changed were colors; no fonts or font sizes. I am a newbie to both blogging and CSS, so I know I have a lot to learn.

I knew the chopped title only showed when I was logged in, but I figured it looked the same to anyone else logged in too. Is that correct?

Again, thanks to all who tried to help; I appreciate the communal spirit here!

I can’t explain why it changed a bit when you went to CSS when all you changed was the colors. All of the changes I’ve made to my blog I did through the “add to existing CSS” option.

    Glad to have helped, though.
