blog title does not show and need to remove a link

  I just switched over to a new theme and the name of my blog will not appear. It only shows in the edit screen when I run the cursor across the area where it should be. Also, there is a link I created when I used another theme and it is shown under “blogroll>categories. I want the categories link removed. How do I do that?
