Blog Title overlapping article on blog home page.
-
If you check out savij.wordpress.com you will notice that the title of my blog article overlapps the first line of the blog. It’s very hard to read. It seems to happen if I use long titles.
Any clues?

Short of the obvious fix of shorter titles, I would imagine that if you have the CSS upgrade you could make the font of your titles smaller. I don’t think there are any other ways to fix this because even ‘hiding’ the overflow of the title will not be the desired result. Getting the CSS upgrade to change the font size might be a little overkill if that is the only change you need….

And even then the text would have to be even smaller than the article text to get it all in there. You may want to look into other themes. I know a lot of the themes that have their Pages listed along the top “break” when you put in too many of them.

Hi,
I’m having a similar problem (I think) and am wondering if someone can help. I’m blind, and a friend tells me that the title of my blog (“Life, the Universe and technology titbits”) “overlaps a bit with your vertical menu stuff”. He suggested I move the headline up a bit. Am I right in thinking I can’t do this without having a CSS upgrade? If not, would it help if I made the blog title shorter? Finally, if anyone has any suggestions for other themes to try which may not have the same problem I’d be grateful. I want quite a simple look to my blog – good colour contrast is pretty important to me, but several columns is fine.
My url is

You should be able to do it without CSS. It’s the Catherine Turner’s Weblog bit that’s too long; it’s forcing your second line into the navigation menu. I think if you just changed it to Catherine Turner’s Blog that should make it all fit on one line. You can do that in Dashboard > Options > Blog Title.
If you wanted to change your theme, I think most themes should handle it without you having to change the title. I know Ambiru makes the text smaller, so that should be fine and a very similar layout to what you’ve got now. Cutline, Connections, MistyLook and OceanMist should all be fine as well (I just tested them on a test blog and didn’t have any problems). Hope that helps.

One thing you can do is shorten “Weblog” to “Blog”. That way the title line won’t break and your tag line won’t get shifted down like that. I tried it on my test blog.
FWIW, in Firefox 2.0.0.5 it’s messed up, but in Konqueror 3.5.7 it’s fine (Fedora 7 – fully up to date via yum)

It’s also messed up in IE 7; but changing the title to Blog brings it in line there as well, so that’s probably the first thing to try.
*waves back to katm* Looks like we had the same idea! Don’t you just love test blogs? :)
