Blog topics mysteriously rearranging themselves. How to correct?

  • Unknown's avatar

I just opened my blog and discovered my latest (topmost-current) article had dropped down to third or fourth place. Plus there was a mini version of it (one paragraph) on top of it that I had to trash. What could have caused this to happen, and how can I place this most current article back on top? Thanks for help.

    Hi there!

When I look at your posts, I see the Hillary one was published on March 8, and then there are 3 newer posts that say they were published “22 hours ago” (all within a few minutes of each other). These four posts are displaying on your site in the expected order of newest first then down from there, based on the times published.

Which one are you wanting to be on top? To adjust their current order, you’ll need to change the dates/times to switch the order, as they are sorting automatically based on time published.

Give that a try and let me know if it gives you any trouble, or if you have any questions! :)

It doesn’t make sense. I checked my records. The publish dates for each topic are as follows”
    Rome to Isis: Nov 2014
    Free Trade Globalization: May 2015
    Quid Pro Quo” Mar 2015
My site apparently has a life of its own, since I don’t tinker with the editing in that way. One of Life’s great mysteries, I guess. Anyway, I’ll do as you suggest and see what happens. Thanks.

Okay, It worked. Except, the mini version (one paragraph) of one of the published topics reappeared and and so I re-trashed it. At this juncture, I believe someone, or something, hacked in and messed around. Aliens?
    Meanwhile, thanks.

That does sound odd! Since you’re the only user on the site, so nothing should be changing without your knowledge, I’d suggest changing your password as soon as possible to be safe: https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/.

You may also want to add Two Step Authentication for extra security. There is more information on that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/.

I’m glad you got your posts moved back to where they were supposed to be! :)
