    I purchased my domain name through GoDaddy. I also purchased a package from them with a 30 day free trial; however, I am thinking about moving over to WordPress but don’t understand why I would be charged a fee to move the name over. I understand that I would potentially have to pay other fees but don’t understand the monthly fee if I am already paying GoDaddy? Excuse my ignorance as I am new to this. Thank you in advance for your help. Trying to figure out the most economical solution that will help me reach my simple goal of launching my blog!

    You’d continue paying GoDaddy for the domain but if you wish to build a site at WordPress.com you’d need a Personal plan or higher to map that domain to a site hosted on WordPress.com servers.
    PS: Upgrades here are charged annually not monthly.
