Blog transfer to WordPress.org that supports plugins
-
I just purchased a premium upgrade and domain name but after doing so realized that the WordPress.com would not support plugins to be able to print my recipes, etc. I am thinking that transferring to WordPress.org might suit my needs better but am not sure how to transfer the domain name or anything really. I am very new to blogging and all the technical that go with it. Guided transfer sounds like that might be what I need but I DO NOT want to lose my domain name since it came with the $99 upgrade thru WordPress.com… help????
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Please note that you cannot transfer your domain to another registrar at the moment. ICANN (the governing body over domains) places a 60 day lock on all new domain registrations and renewals to prevent fraud. This is a requirement placed on all domain registrars, so there is no way to waive it. However, you can still host your domain elsewhere and move to self-hosted, WordPress.org – just note that you would still be registered through us, and after 60 days you can also transfer your domain registration if you would like.
You can find more information about the difference between hosting and registration here: All About Domains
This guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:

As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:
If you’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com site to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. This would be the best way to transfer your site without worrying about all the technical details:

I understand you want to move to self-hosted because of a plugin to print your recipes. Have you checked out the guide below on adding recipes via a simple shortcode on WordPress.com? Take a look – I think this would be perfect for you!:

As for printing these recipe posts, you can do this by adding the Print sharing button on your posts. When your readers click on Print, they can easily print your posts/pages. Take a look here:
