  updates. Matt recommended periodic updates to the blog site as a security measure against the terrible upcoming botnet attack.

  WordPress.com is automatically updated. It’s completely taken care of and you need to do nothing.

  Matt Mullenweg recommends (as do we all) that when an update is released, you update your self-hosted versions of WordPress immediately. For information and help with how to update your self-hosted WordPress site, see the WordPress Support Forums.
