Blog URL Changed – Are Followers Updated?
-
Hello.
Recently I changed my blog’s URL. If a reader is following the blog via WordPress, will their feeds/follows be automatically updated? Or do I need to find out who my followers were under the old URL and let them know of the change?
(I am intentionally not doing a redirect from the old URL to the new.)
Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Before URL: http://acrashcourseinself.wordpress.com/
After URL: http://seekingmymuchness.wordpress.com/
And I just now noticed that my profile still has my old URL attached to it. Oops.

@Shmendric: Did you find an answer anywhere about notifying followers about a blog URL change?
-
Sorry, I was not looking for it since I used my old URL only for testing purposes. When changing the URL it said something that followers will not be updated, if I do remember correctly… can’t say for 100% sure though…

@crashcourseinself
There is no automatic means of letting your readers know you have changed the primary blog linked to your username. You can place a sticky post or a text widget in the top of the sidebar of http://acrashcourseinself.wordpress.com/ directing visitors to http://seekingmymuchness.wordpress.com/
sticky post > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts
text widget > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
Changing username link > Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary WordPress.com blog and then save changes.
