blog url issue

I just purchased a .com url for my wordpress.com blog. I’d like to host it on WordPress.com. I get a message saying that my DNS needs to be updated.

    Hi there,

Are you talking about the domain readbetweenthetimes.com?

I ask because it looks like you only purchased Domain Mapping for this domain, not the actual domain. This happens when the domain has already been purchased elsewhere and our system assumes that you are looking to host it with us.

If you do not already own the domain, let me know! I can cancel and refund you for the Domain Mapping and free up those funds for you to buy another domain which is available.

Hi, Yes that’s the domain. I bought a premium package with the free domain mapping and thought I had purchased the url as well through wordpress. It was available.

Also, I was given the choice to make the url my primary.

    Hey there,

That is indeed very strange! The domain readbetweenthetimes.com is showing as available online so our system should have grabbed it for you.

I’ve gone ahead and cancelled the Domain Mapping for readbetweenthetimes.com and restored the credit for you. You should now be able to buy the domain normally! Let me know if you run in to any further issues.

Was I credited for the entire premium pkg? Since that included the free domain and mapping? $99

I just tried to repurchase the domain and it is saying that it is already mapped to http://www.readbetweenthetimes.wordpress.com. Then I get the message that DNS needs to be edited and it’s the whole thing all over again. Thanks so much for your help. Do you need my user name/password?

I went to GoDaddy and bought the url. Whacky.

Oh! I was just digging through our systems because everything on one screen was saying it was available, but then when I went and searched another, it was saying that it had been successfully registered at GoDaddy.com, which was starting to panic me!

Well in that case I will refund you part of your bundle (which is not something we normally do) since this has been so strange. If you’ll just point your nameservers to:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Your domain should start working soon!

    Sorry again for the inconvenience!
