blog url mapped by profile

    Hi There,
When people view my profile on other websites, it directs to them my hidden blog which is not set against my profile. How can I get my profile to map to the correct blog web address, I have set the one I want but it still redirects to the empty hidden blog, only thing I can think of is if it pops the first address from the list in code, it would be the hidden blog that would default. Have clear cached and web history, and tried from different PC
    . Any help appreciated.
    George

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

So it doesn’t link users to sadlerwrites.wordpress.com? In that case I don’t know. Your profile only has one website field that when you sign up for your site, is automatically added to your profile. However I don’t know why it won’t change or how to fix this. Your username links to the correct blog.

ok well try this website that I commented on

    http://logancabinetshoppe.com/blog/2014/02/qa-podcast/

at the bottom of the page there is a link to my profile masa327,
note it links to http://cabinetshoppe.wordpress.com/ not to sadlerwrites.wordpress.com, only thing I could think of is it cached or has taken a snapshot at the time of the entry.

    Thanks for the reply.

    George

Hmm. Are you the owner of the blog you linked to in that latest reply here? If not, then I don’t know what the problem is. If you are, it may be that it links to the current site you’re commenting on if you are the author of the post. When I get an answer to my question I may tag this for staff attention.

no I am not the owner of the blog, however I have registered the wordpress site that it links to, however that is hidden under my profile, and not set to the default site.

Check your settings at Gravatar.com. It’s possible your settings there are overriding your settings on the Profile page of your dashboard.

Ok, I’ll tag this for staff attention.

Ok thanks Raincoaster, you responded just after I did. If that doesn’t work, I’ll tag this.

I have never signed to this site, so have not setting, also Gravitar does not link to a wordpress profile, it links to Gravitar’s home page,. it is the embedded link with my username that is in question.
    Thx

  • Hi @masa327

I am going to have our engineering team take a closer look here.

In the meantime, I have set that site to “Private” so it can no longer be viewed by visitors or search engines. Anyone who attempts to visit the site will need to request access from you to be able to proceed to the site. You can see this for yourself: https://cloudup.com/cWFSXRe7sMa

That way you are the only person with access to the site for now. If you wish, you can set it back to public viewing by going to Settings>Reading and selecting the appropriate site visibility option.

I will update you when I know more.

    Thanks for your patience. :)

after creating a new free wordpress blog, I deleted the free wordpress blog I originally joined with. a post that I originally created under original blog and copied to new blog is now only appearing in google search under the deleted and no longer accessible original blog. is there something further I need to do to make the new blog the blog connected to my profile and searchable?

  • Hi @masa327

In looking at things more closely (and given that sadlerwrites.wordpress.com was created just a few days before you made that comment) I am wondering if you made that comment before setting it to be your primary blog.

If that is the case, then the link you see in the comment will not “update” to that setting after the fact. There are two ways you can go here, to resolve the issue:

    • Contact the owner of the blog and ask them to edit your comment
    • Delete cabinetshoppe.wordpress.com which will remove the link from that comment. Future comments will show the primary blog you have set now going forward.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
