blog url taken by others but unused

  Hi all,

  I’m eyeing this blog url but it has been taken by another person on wordpress. The problem with it is, when I visit that blog, it has been unedited since May 2007. There are no posts in there except the default starting post that comes with every new blog.

  I wonder if there is a way I can contact the admins to get that blog url for my use instead, or do they have this policy that secures blog urls to the first person that gets it?

  After all, this url I am eyeing was not in use, is still not in use, and probably won’t be used. It has been 17 months since last activity there anyway.

  URL’s are not recycled at wordpress.com.

  You could try leaving a comment on the blog and asking whether the owner would be willing to transfer it to you, but otherwise there’s nothing you can do. To do this, they need to first make you an admin on the blog and then you can delete them as an admin from the blog. Then you can do what you like with it, including deleting all the old posts. But there’s no reason why anyone should put themselves out to do this for you unless they are feeling very kind.

  Generally it’s easier to pick another name and get over it.

  I’ll just pick another name and hope people don’t confuse my blog with the inactive one.
